Iran Foreign Minister Meet Afghan chief executive

Irans Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Chief Executive of Afghanistan Abdullah Abdullah stressed the need to promote bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Zarif made the remajks in a meeting with Abdullah in the afghan capital.

He arrived in Kabul Sunday morning for a day-long visit which took place at the invitation of his Afghan counterpart.

He described Iran and Afghanistan as to cordial countries which share a similar culture.

He stressed the need to further promote bilateral relations between the two capitals.

Referring to the fact that about three million Afghans are living in Iran legally or illegally, Zarif said that Tehran has been providing good services for the Afghan refugees.

He further emphasized the necessity for changing the situation of Afghan refugees in Iran from illegal to legal status.

Meanwhile, the Afghan official called for further consular cooperation with Iran as well as acceleration of commuting between nationals of the two countries.

Abdullah appreciated Iran for providing educational services for the Afghan pupils.

The two officials also exchanged views on major bilateral and regional issues including the fights against terrorism and illegal drugs as well as facilitating the implementation of Chabahar project in southeastern Iran and the Herat-Khaf railways.
