Zarif: Foreign Ministry’s priority this year to help boost production, employment

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Monday that Foreign Ministrys priority in the new Iranian year (beginning on March 21) is to help promote production and employment.

Addressing the ministrys staff on Monday, he added that designation of the current Iranian year as the Year of Economy of Resistance; Production and Employment required doubled efforts by the colleagues.

"We left behind a difficult and hardworking year and we have sensitive stages ahead of us in the new year," he said.

Under the current regional and global conditions, a miscalculation and not monitoring developments well can be hazardous, he said, noting that on the contrary, a precise calculation and full attention to developments can help promote status of the Islamic Republic in the region and the world.

Referring to the significance of the economy in todays integrated world, Zarif said in order to meet the needs, particularly employment, production and investment cannot be confined to inside the country alone.

"We are duty-bound to prepare suitable conditions for implementing the motto of the current Iranian year," he said, noting that nuclear talks prepared the ground for removing foreign obstacles and promoting domestic talents.

Stressing the need for better use of the achievements of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Zarif said that implementation of the international pact may require more efforts than that for reaching the deal.

Underlining the need for improving ties with the world, especially with regional and neighboring countries as this years priority, he said that the priority is a safe region.

Iran is a secure country in light of the efforts of the military and police forces, he said, adding that Iran supports security of all countries and today, security is a national necessity.

As of today, JCPOA means comprehensive plan of resistance economy, he said, calling for promoting imports in the spheres of science and technology, capital and tourists and exports of non-oil products, technical and engineering services and expert manpower.
