Speaker of the National Assembly of Madagascar, Jean Max Rakotomamonjy, has met with Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in Tehran.
During the meeting on Monday, Rakotomamonjy expressed his pleasure of taking part in President Hassan Rouhani’s inauguration and congratulated him on his re-election.
“Although some countries caused problems, the swearing-in ceremony was warmly received by many states,” Rakotomamonjy added.
He also conveyed the message of the Malagasy president to Dr Rouhani and also the message of his country’s foreign minister to FM Zarif.
The Iranian top diplomat, for his part, said that Madagascar is of great importance to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
"Due to the sanctions, we have progressed depending on our own domestic facilities and local people, so we are ready to work with Madagascar in various political, economic and international fields and to support each other in the international arena," Zarif noted.
