Iranian, UAE Deputy Foreign Ministers Meet on Bilateral Ties

Deputy foreign ministers of Iran and the United Arab Emirates met on Saturday to explore avenues for expanding bilateral ties and mutual cooperation between the two Persian Gulf states.

The meeting held on the sidelines of the two countries 8th Joint Consular Cooperation Commission Meeting focused on examining potentials and capacities for widening cooperation between Iran and the UAE.

"Developing and deepening relations with all countries, specially the neighboring and Muslim states, tops the agenda of the new (Iranian) government," Irans Acting Deputy Foreign Minister Morteza Sarmadi told his Emirati counterpart at the meeting.

He underlined existence of abundant capacities and opportunities for widening the Iran-UAE relations in various spheres, and described movement towards development of the relations in line with the two nations interests as the most important task of the Iranian and Emirati governments, their foreign ministries in particular.

Sarmadi further expressed the hope that the Iran-UAE relations would witness further consolidation of the relations through the upcoming meeting of the two countries High Joint Cooperation Commission to be presided by the Iranian and UAE foreign ministers.

He also reminded the problems encountered by Iranian nationals in the UAE recently, and said Tehran welcomes the Emirati governments recent move towards the settlement of this problem and hopes that "these impediments and problems will be totally removed".

The UAE deputy foreign minister for political affairs, for his part, reiterated his countrys political will to have expanding cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran, and said Irans crucially important role in the region has been growing even more after the ascending to power of the new Iranian government.

"We are much pleased to see that the Islamic Republic of Iran is seeking to expand its relations with the regional countries through cooperation with neighbors," the Emirati deputy foreign minister said.
