Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, who is in China to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, met on the sidelines of the summit with his Uzbek counterpart, Bakhtiyor Saidov.

Araghchi expressed appreciation for Uzbekistan’s support for the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of Iran in the face of aggressions by the Zionist regime and the United States, and for the solidarity extended by the Uzbek government and people.

Referring to the fact that the Zionist regime's military assault against Iran occurred amid negotiations and with U.S. complicity and support—followed by America’s own dangerous military attack on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities—Araghchi emphasized that these actions constituted a betrayal of diplomacy and an unprecedented blow to the rule of law, international law, and the non-proliferation regime.
He lamented the failure of the UN Security Council and the International Atomic Energy Agency to condemn these violations, while noting that over 120 countries and organizations, including the Non-Aligned Movement, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Arab League, BRICS, and the SCO, had condemned the aggressions.

Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister reiterated his country’s position condemning violations of Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and expressed condolences to the families of the victims. He noted that like many regional countries, Uzbekistan is deeply concerned about the consequences of these aggressions and the escalation of insecurity and tensions in the region. He praised Iran’s prudence in preventing the deterioration of the situation.

Saidov also emphasized his country’s commitment to advancing bilateral ties between Tehran and Tashkent, highlighting the importance of holding regular joint economic commission meetings, utilizing chambers of commerce, and strengthening interprovincial ties as effective tools for promoting and accelerating economic and commercial cooperation.

The two foreign ministers agreed to continue consultations on reciprocal high-level visits and on regional developments.
