Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Syed Mohsin Naqvi, who has traveled to Tehran for consultations with senior Iranian officials, met with Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, on Monday evening.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral Iran-Pakistan cooperation, particularly in the areas of security and economy.
They also exchanged views on the latest security situation in the region and ongoing efforts to end the U.S.-Israeli regime’s imposed war against Iran.
Iran’s Foreign Minister, expressing gratitude for Pakistan’s constructive efforts to advance diplomacy and prevent escalation of tensions, described the contradictory, excessive, and hypocritical behavior and positions of the United States as a serious obstacle to diplomacy. Referring to past U.S. breaches of promise and betrayal in diplomatic engagements, he emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran’s entry into the diplomatic process to end the war has been based on a responsible approach, despite profound mistrust toward the U.S. ruling establishment. He made it clear that while Iran is serious about diplomacy, it will not refrain from any measure to enhance its preparedness to defend its national security and interests.
The Iranian Foreign Minister also pointed to the far-reaching consequences of U.S. and Israeli military aggression against Iran for the region and the world, stressing that the international community must hold the aggressor parties accountable and punish them for the crime of aggression and other atrocities against humanity—similar to the massacre of 170 innocent students and teachers in the city of Minab.
Pakistan’s Interior Minister, in turn, highlighted his constructive and fruitful talks with the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament and his Iranian counterpart, reaffirming his government’s special commitment to the continued comprehensive enhancement of relations with Iran.
