ranian Austrian Foreign Ministers hold phone talks

Beate Meinl-Reisinger, Austria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a telephone conversation on Thursday evening with Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
During the call, the two sides exchanged views on bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments.
Iran’s Foreign Minister briefed his counterpart on the latest regional developments, including Iran-Oman talks aimed at establishing mechanisms for the future management of the Strait of Hormuz. He stressed that the current situation is the result of the illegal aggression by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran. Despite the Islamic Republic of Iran entering the diplomatic process in good faith and the agreement to end the war being signed on 18 June, the American side violated the terms of that understanding by imposing a maritime blockade on Iran and launching extensive attacks on both military and civilian targets in Iran, thereby escalating tensions and undermining security in the Strait of Hormuz.
Referring to the ongoing heinous crimes of the Zionist regime against the people of Gaza and Lebanon, Araghchi described the European Union’s passive stance and the comprehensive support extended by some European countries to that regime as a major factor in the continuation of occupation and genocide in occupied Palestine. He called on the European Union to revise its approaches toward West Asian issues.
Araghchi also condemned the European Union’s interventionist position against Iran and its support for anti-Iranian terrorist elements.

Austria’s Foreign Minister outlined her country’s position on the regional situation and emphasised the importance of restoring stability and security in the region and returning conditions to normal through diplomatic solutions.
