Speaking on Tuesday in a meeting held for receiving the letter of credence of the new Japanese Ambassador to Tehran, President Hassan Rouhani stressed the importance of accelerating the implementation of joint agreements and the release of Iranian financial resources in Tokyo, and said, "Iran has always welcomed the development of economic and scientific relations with Japan, and we hope to see a transformation in these relations in the new environment and the presence of more Japanese companies in advancing our national projects in the fields of science and technology".
At the same meeting, the new Ambassador of Japan to Tehran Mr Ikawa Kazutoshi presented his credentials to the President, and stressed that Japan was determined to develop cooperation with Iran in areas of interest.
The new Japanese ambassador said, "Japan and Iran have been two very good partners, and the finalisation and implementation of the technical cooperation agreement between the two countries will provide wide opportunities for cooperation between Tehran and Tokyo".
Referring to the achievements of the mutual visits of senior officials of the two countries to Tehran and Tokyo, he said, "The new Prime Minister of Japan is determined to continue the path of Mr Abe Shinzo in developing cooperation with Iran, and is determined to work with Tehran for a more prosperous and peaceful world".
Kazutoshi also stressed that Japan fully supports the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and stands by Iran.
