Former Lebanese foreign minister and head of the largest Christian bloc in Lebanon’s parliament, Gebran Bassil, has phoned Hossein Amir Abdollahian, congratulating him on his appointment as foreign minister, and thanking the Islamic Republic of Iran for selling and sending shipments of fuel to Lebanon.Bassil strongly criticized the policies of those, who want to push the Lebanese toward hunger for their political ends. He called for an all-out expansion of ties with Iran and, while conveying [Lebanese President] Michel Aoun’s message to the Iranian president, exchanged views with the Iranian foreign minister on regional developments.During the phone call, Amir Abdollahian, in turn, stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to sell its oil products to new clients.“If the government and businessmen of Lebanon need more oil, Ian is ready to sell and send it. The initiative by the honorable leader of Hezbollah [resistance movement] to end the crisis, created by the Zionists against the people of Lebanon, confirms the fact that the path to success of Lebanon goes through self-reliance and use of domestic wealth and resources,” he added.Amir Abdollahian also said there is no limitation for expansion of bilateral ties with Lebanon stressing that the Islamic Republic of Iran will always defend the Lebanese government, military and resistance.
