Iran, China deputy foreign ministers discuss Vienna talks
Iran’s top negotiator and Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, Ali Bagheri, and Chinese Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Ma Zhaoxu, in a phone call, have discussed and exchanged consultations over the Vienna talks.
Iran’s top negotiator and Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, Ali Bagheri, and Chinese Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Ma Zhaoxu, in a phone call, have discussed and exchanged consultations over the Vienna talks.During the phone call, held on Wednesday evening, the Iranian chief negotiator touched on the wide spectrum of cooperation between the two countries and the convergence of their positions on a wide range of international issues, including the Vienna talks. He also thanked Beijing for its support for the Islamic Republic of Iran’s viewpoints in such key topics as the priority of removal of illegal US sanctions and the need for Iran to receive guarantees.Bagheri also explained some proposals presented by the Iranian delegation to other parties of the talks in the form of drafts and reiterated that the Islamic Republic’s proposals are well-founded and fully documented. He stressed that the clearest step by the other parties, in response to the constructive measure by Iran, is offering their viewpoints in a well-founded and fully documented fashion. During the phone call, the Chinese vice foreign minister also stressed that mutual consultations and coordination help perpetuate the process of negotiations and should continue.He expressed hope that other parties also help the talks move forward through their own constructive approaches.
