Speaking on Tuesday in Tehran upon arrival from a one-day official visit to Oman, Ayatollah Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi talked about the achievements of the visit, saying, "The visit to Oman was aimed at developing economic, cultural and political interactions between the two countries and we had constructive talks and consultations with the authorities of the country".The President said that the views of Iran and Oman on regional and international issues are close to each other, adding, "In the meetings and talks we had during this trip, emphasis was placed on strengthening cooperation between the two countries in various fields".Referring to the signing of 13 cooperation documents between the two countries during the visit, Dr Raisi said, "Despite the doubling of trade between the two countries from $700 million to $1.3 billion, this level of trade interaction is far from the diverse capacities that exist in the two countries, and efforts should be made to increase them".The President further referred to the meeting with Omani economic actors and specified, "In this meeting, the problems of traders in the field of trade, money transfer and financial and banking issues between the two countries and customs were discussed".Stating that the meeting revealed that businesspeople and economic actors of the two countries do not have enough knowledge of capacities in the other country, Dr Raisi said, "The necessity of establishing Iran's trade office in Oman was felt and it was decided that the office be established as soon as possible to help the traders of the two countries get acquainted with the capacities".The President referred to the meeting with Iranians living in Oman and said, "In this meeting, the issues and problems of Iranians living in Oman were discussed and appropriate decisions were made about them, and in some cases, it was decided that decisions be made in Tehran".Dr Raisi stated, "Iranians living abroad, like Iranians inside the country, have rights to which the government is committed and seeks to pursue them. Naturally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and especially the Council of Iranians Abroad, which is under the supervision of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, should follow this task".
