Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and his Jordanian counterpart Ayman al-Safadi on Thursday afternoon had a telephone conversation in which they discussed the most important issues of mutual interest at bilateral and regional levels. Amirabdollahian congratulated the Jordanian foreign minister on Eid ul-Fitr. The top Iranian diplomat further pointed to his recent trip to the Jordanian capital Amman and his meeting with the country’s King, declaring Iran’s readiness to expand relations and cooperation with Jordan. While appreciating Jordan's efforts in support of the Palestinian people and the holy sites in the holy city of al-Quds, Amirabdollahian said the apartheid Zionist regime is the biggest threat to the region and the Islamic ummah. He also stressed the need for unity in the Muslim world and for efforts to cut off the hands of the Zionists from al-Aqsa Mosque as well as to help Palestinians achieve their full rights. Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman al-Safadi for his part congratulated the Iranian government and people on Eid ul-Fitr and said his country is ready to expand bilateral relations with Iran. Safadi underlined that Iran is an important country in the region and that Jordan attaches great importance for the expansion of ties with Iran. He also welcomed the rapprochement between Iran and Saudi Arabia and congratulated both sides on this development. The top Jordanian diplomat then referred to the rights of the Palestinian people and reaffirmed his country’s support for peace and stability in the region and for the defense of holy sites in al-Quds against the acts of aggression by the Zionists. The foreign ministers of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Jordan then exchanged congratulations on behalf of the heads of states of the two countries on the occasion of Eid ul-Fitr.
