Iranian Minister for Foreign Affairs Hossein Amirabdollahian held a phone call with his new Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, congratulating him on his appointment to the post. He expressed hope that close cooperation between the two countries will move forward in the new term.
Amirabdollahian invited Fidan to visit Iran, stressing the need to speed up plans to promote bilateral ties.
The top Iranian diplomat highlighted the significance of bilateral cooperation in regional issues and called for the activation of regional mechanisms.
For his part, Fidan thanked Amirabdollahian for the congratulations. He pointed to the importance of continuing the negotiations and good cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Turkey in the bilateral and regional fields and expressed readiness to help the development of relations between the two countries in the period ahead.
The Turkish foreign minister said he would visit Tehran at the earliest opportunity.
He relayed the greetings of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to his Iranian counterpart, Ebrahim Raisi, thanking First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber for taking part in the swearing-in ceremony of the Turkish president
