Iran, Ecuador FMs hold talks on sidelines of UNGA
Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian met with his Ecuadorian counterpart Gustavo Manrique on Thursday evening at his residence on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) summit in New York.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian met with his Ecuadorian counterpart Gustavo Manrique on Thursday evening at his residence on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) summit in New York.   The Iranian foreign minister said reinforcing ties with Latin American countries is crucial for the Islamic Republic of Iran, and referring to his recent trip to Latin America along with the Iranian president. He expressed hope to have the chance to visit Ecuador in the next round to strengthen bilateral relations.   Amirabdollahian also felicitated Ecuador for its membership in the United Nations Security Council, saying “Your country’s constructive positions will give credibility to the Security Council.”   The Iranian foreign minister noted Iran has made enormous progress, especially in the fields of technology, despite the US sanctions, and added it does not have any restrictions on the expansion of relations with Ecuador.   Amirabdollahian stressed the importance of coming up with a road map for the promotion of ties between the two countries, adding Iran also welcomes the expansion of bilateral relations in international forums.   Voicing satisfaction with the meeting, the Ecuadorian foreign minister said his country was interested in promoting relations with Iran in various fields of infrastructure, energy, tourism, culture, fisheries and aquatics.   Manrique added Ecuador would continue the joint consultations and discussions to strengthen the relations between the two countries.
