Spokesperson for Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Kanaani, condemned the Zionist regime's accusations against some UNRWA employees, labeling it as part of the regime's inhumane actions against the Palestinian people.
Kanaani emphasized that accusations suggesting the supportive role of some UNRWA (The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East) employees in the al-Alqsa Storm Operation are aimed to justify the Zionist regime's restrictive measures on humanitarian organizations active in the Gaza Strip and West Bank. Kanaani dismissed such accusations as an attempt to acquit the regime of an unprecedented and horrific crime involving the killing of approximately 150 employees of international organizations, including UNRWA, over the last 113 days.
He expressed regret over the decision made by nine predominantly Western countries to cut aid to UNRWA based on the Zionist regime's claims, stating: “Such a reaction practically implies accepting the claims of the criminal regime, which, based on the order issued by the International Court of Justice, stands accused of the genocide of Palestinians and must answer to this court and the public opinion of the world.”
Kanaani added: "Putting pressure and restrictions on the humanitarian activities of UNRWA or preventing the sending of humanitarian aid to people facing difficult war conditions and the actual threat of genocide is practically nothing but a declaration of confidence in the narrative of a war criminal accused of genocide."
He clarified: "Instead of announcing the suspension of their aid to UNRWA, these countries should have ceased their arms aid to the Zionist regime and political support to its criminal leaders."
The spokesperson added: “The Islamic Republic of Iran invites all freedom-loving countries and nations, especially Islamic countries, to stand up against this obvious oppression. They should use all their efforts to meet the needs of the oppressed Palestinian people within the framework of the final statement of the recent emergency meeting of the heads of Islamic countries so that this inhumane action, which has no purpose other than to impose forced migration and to defeat the will of the people in the Gaza Strip, will fail."
