A ceremony was held to commemorate the head of the political bureau of the Palestinian Islamic resistance movement Hamas, the martyred Mujahid Ismail Haniyeh, in the Iranian capital Tehran on Tuesday.
Iran’s Acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri, the representative of the Hamas movement in Tehran Khaled Qaddoumi, ambassadors and heads of political missions residing in Tehran, national figures, representatives of pro-Palestine NGOs as well as Foreign Ministry's diplomatic directors and experts attended the ceremony at ministry premises.
Honoring the noble personality of martyr Haniyeh, Bagheri said, “Today is designated as “The Islamic Resistance Day” on the Islamic Republic of Iran’s calendar, which marks the victorious end of the 33-day war and the clear and firm defeat handed to the Zionist regime in its fight against the determination of the dear and great nation of Lebanon.
He noted the concurrence has a message, which is “the Islamic resistance is alive, dynamic and growing, and resistance becomes more fruitful with this blood.”
The caretaker Iranian foreign minister stated, “Losing a great personality like Martyr Ismail Haniyeh is a great loss, but the pure blood of the martyr will make the sublime Palestinian cause and mission stronger and more fruitful than before both in Palestine and in the region and the world.”
“For nearly eight decades, the regional nations and the people of the world have been facing a phenomenon full of wickedness and occupation in dear Palestine,” he said, adding, “The phenomenon led to the occupation of an Islamic land and these people were displaced from their homes and the residents of the land faced the worst crimes, but the Palestinian nation used all its capabilities and sacrificed its lives in the face of the evil entity.”
The acting foreign minister went on to say, “But this is not the whole issue; the important issue is that the purported civilization of the West, with all its identity and capabilities, has stepped in to back up and support the evil entity, and the behavior of the Westerners, led by the US, in Palestine contravenes humanity and the right to self-determination.”
Bagheri stressed, “The Zionist regime is not an independent entity, but a cancerous tumor and the United States’ representative in the region.”
He clarified that the US supports the entity because “this is an Islamic region with Muslim states and they do not want convergence and alignment between Islamic states or connection between West Asia and Africa, because these bonds create power.”
The top Iranian diplomat reminded, “The US not only spends money in this area, but also puts its own reputation at stake and tries to protect the Israeli regime’s military dominance in the region by any means.”
The Iranian interim foreign minister highlighted the fact that the Zionists have not hit any military position during the past ten months and have only targeted people, places of worship, schools, hospitals, offices of media representatives, and in general ordinary people and civilian, and not military, infrastructures in Gaza.
He noted that the Zionist regime attacked a school and a mosque with advanced weapons in their latest crimes and martyred and dismembered the bodies of civilians, and added the issue that is worth pondering is the alleged human rights advocates did not show any reaction to the crimes.
Bagheri reiterated, “The resistance in Palestine is a front and a field of resistance against the Zionists’ occupation of the holy land of Palestine, and the Palestinian resistance represents a global resistance.”
“Whether in Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, or Iraq, in other words, the Palestinian resistance has managed to spread the human and Islamic element to other countries with its courage and steadfastness, and we are facing a world of resistance,” he said
The Iranian top diplomat opined, “The resistance of the Palestinian nation has turned the world of resistance into a global resistance, and today resistance is not exclusive to Palestine, Lebanon, Syria and Islamic countries, but even in the Western world, resistance is mentioned as a belief, a doctrine, and a political discourse in the international arena and Americans as well as Zionists have to accept the fact."
He said, “Today, from the International Court of Justice in The Hague to the US Congress in Washington and from the United Nations General Assembly in New York to the Human Rights Council in Geneva, from the East to the West, from Islamic and non-Islamic states, from Muslims and followers of other religions, they have realized the truth that resistance is a superior and correct discourse and it has become a reality, and this is what bothers the US and the Zionists.”
The senior diplomat underscored that Islamic resistance is getting stronger by the day, adding that it has reached maturity for planning, decision-making, and independent action.
“The resistance acts at its own discretion, independently, and with unity, and increases the effectiveness of the resistance movements through arranged and coordinated efforts,” he noted and remarked the world of resistance has a fixed and solid identity.
Bagheri emphasized, “Today, the Palestinian cause has become a global cause, and has managed to create a place and a logical framework in the elite society, so it can be firmly said that today's global resistance has become an undeniable power, and the US as well as the Zionist regime need to know that returning to the past equation is impossible.”
The head of Iran’s diplomatic service also lauded Martyr Haniyeh as “a great man who was a blessing to both Palestine and other Muslims during his fruitful life; whether during his studies, teachings, and fighting, when he was a political activist or prime minister, or when he was in charge of the political office of Hamas.”
The acting foreign minister said Haniyeh was a living martyr before he was martyred by the criminal Zionists at a time he was the Islamic Republic of Iran’s official guest.
He repeated the Islamic Republic of Iran’s stance that the Zionists’ move breached Iran’s national security, sovereignty and territorial integrity, and warned that the country reserves its inherent and legitimate right to give a reciprocal response.
Bagheri further stated that the Zionists' aggression against Iran’s embassy in Damascus, their raids on residential areas in Beirut and the assassination of Martyr Haniyeh in Tehran prove that the Zionists are hell-bent on spreading insecurity, instability, crisis and tension from Gaza to other parts.
He said the world needs to know that the root cause of instability in the region is an evil entity named the Zionist regime and urged the world to stand up against the crimes and aggression and the engine of state terrorism.
The acting foreign minister said the Islamic Republic of Iran, in its position, will use its legitimate and inherent right, and others who want peace in the region have to take appropriate measures to prevent the crisis.
The acting foreign minister stated that the election of Yahya al-Sinwar after the martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh will bring about an auspicious outcome for the people in Palestine and the Muslims in the world, namely the victory of the resistance on the battlefield, the superiority of the resistance in the world's political arena, and the decisive dominance of the discourse of resistance in the world public opinion.
For his part, the representative of the Palestinian Islamic resistance movement Hamas in Tehran lauded martyr Haniyeh and praised the Islamic Republic of Iran’s government and nation, especially the martyred Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, for their support for the resistant people of Palestine.
Qaddoumi slammed Haniyeh's assassination as a terrorist crime, adding if it had happened anywhere else in the world, the UN Security Council would have invoked the Chapter VII of the UN Charter to launch an offensive.
He stressed, “We are making history in the Gaza Strip to serve humanity so that everyone knows that the Zionist regime is the enemy of humanity and that we defend human dignity in Gaza.”
“The Zionist regime does not want negotiations, but bloodshed and making up excuses, and we should differentiate between the two,” the Hamas representative said and explained that the Israeli regime’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu does not even stick to the terms of negotiations and has not even allowed displaced people and refugees to return to their homes.
Qaddoumi also highlighted the fact that the Zionist regime pushed for normalization of ties with the regional countries before October 7, but now the pharaoh should stand trial at an international court.
Meanwhile, he paid homage to all the freedom seekers, Muslims, and those who attended Martyr Haniyeh’s commemoration ceremonies.
He said, “I am certain that the Israeli regime will ultimately fail as an immoral regime and I believe that the story of the Palestinian children and the story of Martyr Haniyeh have emerged triumphant over the narrative of the evil regime.”
Concluding his remarks, the representative of the Islamic resistance movement of Palestine stated, “The issue is not only to avenge Haniyeh’s blood, and today we are at a juncture in history where it is deemed appropriate for everyone to stand up against these thugs and rascals who only seek to create insecurity.”
