The third meeting of the foreign ministers of the 3+3 Regional Cooperation Mechanism was held on Friday in the Turkish city of Istanbul.
The meeting, attended by the foreign ministers of Iran, Turkey, Russia, Armenia, and the Republic of Azerbaijan, focused on resolving South Caucasus issues through dialogue and exploring ways to enhance cooperation and integration in the region.
According to the final statement of the meeting, besides intergovernmental interactions, facilitating public interactions and cooperation in cultural, scientific, educational, and tourism sectors will be prioritized.
In his speech, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi highlighted that holding the 3+3 Regional Cooperation Mechanism Foreign Ministers' meetings demonstrates the countries' determination to resolve regional issues through regional collaboration.
Araghchi welcomed the progress in peace talks between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia, emphasizing that respect for territorial integrity, national sovereignty, recognized international borders, and the avoidance of force or the threat of force are essential for lasting peace in the region.
The top Iranian diplomat also pointed to the Zionist regime’s ongoing brutal crimes in Gaza and Lebanon and criticized the silence of the United States and some other Western countries in the face of the crimes as hypocritical.
Araghchi called on these countries to stop their political and military support for the Zionist regime and urged the international community to take serious action to stop the regime's continued genocide and crimes against humanity in Gaza, including attacks on medical, health, educational, and religious centers.
He stressed the need for the immediate delivery of humanitarian aid to refugees in Gaza and Lebanon.
