Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi met with his Omani counterpart Seyed Badr al-Busaidi on the sidelines of the second day of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) meeting in Muscat on Monday.   Araghchi expressed gratitude for the invitation, excellent hospitality, good planning, and successful hosting of the Muscat meeting.   He highlighted the important roles of Iran and Oman in the Persian Gulf and Indian Ocean region and expressed hope that the constructive discussions and ideas presented in various sessions of the meeting will pave the way for the comprehensive development and expansion of relations among the participating countries, especially in strengthening maritime economy partnerships.   Referring to the excellent relations between Iran and Oman and the determination of both countries' leaders to enhance these relations, Araghchi emphasized Iran's full readiness to implement joint agreements and plans to open new avenues of cooperation, especially in the fields of economy, trade, and energy.   He also expressed satisfaction with the successful holding of the 21st Joint Economic Commission meeting between Iran and Oman in Muscat.   The Omani foreign minister, while appreciating and expressing satisfaction with the active participation of the Iranian foreign minister in the 8th IORA meeting, emphasized that Iran possesses diverse and significant capacities to help achieve the goals and implement the programs of Indian Ocean rim countries.   He stressed that Iran's presence in the summit is of great importance to Oman.   Al-Busaidi further underlined the special attention of the Sultan of Oman to the historical and friendly relations between the two neighboring countries and expressed hope that the excellent relations between Iran and Oman will further expand to achieve the interests of both nations and contribute to regional stability and development.   The foreign ministers of Iran and Oman discussed a wide range of regional and international issues of mutual interest.   Araghchi praised the wise positions and benevolent efforts of the Sultan of Oman in contributing to peace and stability in the region.   The two foreign ministers reaffirmed the importance of ongoing consultations and dialogue between Tehran and Muscat in light of regional and global developments.
