Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi met on Monday with his Nepalese counterpart Arzu Rana Deuba in Muscat on the sidelines of the second day of the 8th Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) meeting.
Araghchi referred to the history of friendly ties between the two countries and emphasized Iran's readiness to strengthen and expand relations with Nepal, especially in the fields of economy, trade, and energy.
The Iranian foreign minister also pointed out that plans are underway for reciprocal visits by officials and the holding of economic meetings as a means to familiarize each country with the other's capacities and to utilize them for the development of relations. He invited his Nepalese counterpart to visit Tehran.
Meanwhile, the Nepalese foreign minister expressed her pleasure with meeting with Araghchi and thanked him for the invitation.
Deuba noted that the 60th anniversary of the establishment of relations between the two countries is an appropriate opportunity to design and hold various events, exhibitions, and festivals in trade, culture, tourism, and gastronomy to deepen the relations between Tehran and Kathmandu.
The Nepalese Foreign Minister also expressed gratitude for Iran's humanitarian efforts to evacuate a Nepalese citizen from Gaza and called for the continuation of such efforts.
