The spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, Esmail Baqaei, described the Austrian intelligence agency’s claim questioning the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program as false and baseless.
He asserted that it was merely fabricated to create media propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran and, therefore, lacks any credibility or validity.
The spokesperson emphasized Iran’s membership in the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) and highlighted the obvious fact that Iran’s nuclear program is subject to the strictest inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
He stated that Austria’s intelligence agency’s action undermines the credibility of the IAEA.
Furthermore, he pointed out that Austria and certain other European countries hypocritically remain silent on the arming of the Zionist regime with various weapons of mass destruction while fully supporting the genocidal and occupying regime, hindering the realization of a Middle East free of weapons of mass destruction.
The spokesperson noted that Iran, unlike those countries, firmly opposes nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction and is a steadfast advocate and supporter of the idea of making West Asia free of weapons of mass destruction.
Baqaei denounced the Austrian intelligence agency for spreading lies, and called on the Austrian government to provide an official explanation regarding the irresponsible, provocative, and destructive act by one of its official institutions.
