Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and his Hungarian counterpart Péter Szijjártó in a telephone conversation on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of relations between Tehran and Budapest, commemorated a century of friendly and rich ties. Araghchi and Szijjártó underlined the necessity of continuing and strengthening these relations in various fields. The Hungarian minister of foreign affairs and trade congratulated the 100th anniversary of Iran–Hungary diplomatic relations and underlined the Hungarian government’s approach toward the comprehensive expansion of relations with Iran. Araghchi, in turn, reaffirmed Iran’s determination to continue and strengthen relations with all countries based on mutual respect and interests. He also described the Iran–Hungary relations as important and having a huge potential for further expansion. The two sides also exchanged views on regional issues and international developments during their conversation. The Iranian foreign minister warned against the consequences of the unlawful, unjustified, and irresponsible action of the three European countries in attempting to exert pressure on the Iranian nation by threatening to reinstate the annulled UN Security Council resolutions, stressing Iran’s right to take appropriate countermeasures. Araghchi further noted that this move has severely damaged Europe’s credibility and standing as a negotiating party and has created profound doubts regarding the true intentions of these countries.08:10
