The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, who has traveled to New York to attend the annual session of the United Nations General Assembly, met and held talks on Tuesday with his Spanish counterpart José Manuel Albares Bueno, as part of his ongoing consultations with various countries. During the meeting, the two sides reviewed bilateral relations and emphasized the importance of efforts to strengthen ties in areas of mutual interest. Regional and international developments were also discussed. The two ministers exchanged views on the dire humanitarian situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and stressed the urgent need for immediate action by the international community to break the inhumane blockade of Gaza, stop the genocide, and secure the human and legal rights of the Palestinian people to self-determination. The Iranian foreign minister, while praising Spain’s leading role in the campaign against genocide and the gross violations of international law in Gaza, underlined the shared responsibility of all governments, based on international law and humanitarian and moral principles, to hold criminals and those threatening international peace and security accountable.
