FM Araghchi meets with PGCC chief reaffirms Iran’s commitment to good neighborliness
Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Seyed Abbas Araghchi who has traveled to New York to participate in the annual session of the UN General Assembly met and held talks on Saturday with the Secretary-General of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) Jasem Albudaiwi.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed relations between Iran and the PGCC member states. Both parties emphasized the importance of expanding ties between Iran and the countries located along the southern shores of the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman across all sectors, with the aim of strengthening mutual trust and understanding. They stressed the need to focus on shared interests and common challenges. The Iranian foreign minister reiterated the Islamic Republic of Iran’s principled policy of good neighborliness with regional countries and affirmed Iran’s readiness to utilize all available capacities to deepen relations in all areas with neighboring states. Araghchi also highlighted the serious threat posed by the Zionist regime’s warmongering and hegemonic ambitions to regional peace and stability, and emphasized the urgent need for greater cooperation and commitment among regional countries to halt the genocide in Gaza and confront the regime’s aggressions against countries in the region. For his part, the secretary-general of the PGCC expressed satisfaction with the ongoing consultations between the PGCC and Iran, describing the strengthening of relations between Iran and regional countries as a key factor in maintaining regional security and stability. He also voiced deep concern over the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and the consequences of continued warmongering in the region, underscoring the shared responsibility of the international community to stop the crimes and genocide in occupied Palestine.
