Yesterday’s UNSC resolution on #Iran is ultra vires and utterly unlawful; nothing can override a nation’s INHERENT RIGHT to self-defense. This resolution distorts the fundamental principles of the #UN Charter and international law. It signals the profound deterioration of the UNSC system as a result of the #UnitedStates’ instrumentalization of the Council for its unlawful interests & malign whims. The Council should have unequivocally and furmly condemned the American/Israeli aggression against Iran. Instead, it chose to condemn Iran! The sponsors deliberately ignored the obvious fact that Iran is defending itself against an unprovoked aggression by two bullying regimes—one of which is a permanent member of the very same Council. No country should provide any assistance to the U.S./Israeli illegal war against Iran. This ongoing aggression against Iran could not be conducted without the use of American military bases and assets stationed in the territories of countries in the #Persian_Gulf. Iran has no intention of violating the sovereignty or territorial integrity of its neighbors and has exercised maximum restraint. Our armed forces remain fully committed to international humanitarian law, selecting their targets with the utmost care and caution, and striking only those military bases, installations, and assets used by the aggressors to conduct their illegal war.
