Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Mauro Vieira, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federative Republic of Brazil, held a phone call to discuss and exchange views on developments in the West Asia region and the consequences of the US and Israeli regime's military aggression against Iran.
Brazil’s foreign minister condemned the US and Israeli regime's military aggression against Iran, offered condolences for the martyrdom of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution and a number of Iranian officials and citizens, and expressed sympathy with the Iranian government and people.
Iran’s foreign minister, elaborating on the dimensions of the aggressive and criminal acts by the US and the Israeli regime, noted that this military aggression was imposed on Iran in the midst of diplomatic efforts.
Araghchi emphasized the Islamic Republic of Iran's firm resolve to defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity until the full achievement of its objectives and the aggressors are made to regret their actions.
Araghchi pointed out that the US and the Israeli regime were the initiators of this imposed war, stating that Iran's defensive operations against the aggressors' bases and facilities in the regional countries fall within the framework of the inherent right to self-defense and should not be considered a violation of the host countries' sovereignty. At the same time, regional countries, in accordance with the principles of international law and good neighborliness, are obligated to prevent the US and the Israeli regime from using their territory and facilities to commit aggressive acts against Iran. Any negligence on their part in this regard would entail their international responsibility and have dangerous consequences for peace and stability in the region.
Brazil’s foreign minister, expressing grave concern over the consequences of lawlessness and violations of international law, emphasized the necessity of respecting national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the fundamental principles of international law.
