Iran Italian FMs hold phone talks on regional security US-Israeli aggression
Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and his Italian counterpart Antonio Tajani held a phone conversation on Wednesday morning.
Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and his Italian counterpart Antonio Tajani held a phone conversation on Wednesday morning.   During the call, the two sides exchanged views on regional developments and the security, legal, and economic repercussions of the US and Israeli regime's military aggression against Iran.   Araghchi detailed the crimes committed by the US-Israeli aggressors during their recent military attack and underscored the responsibility of all states to condemn the aggressors' flagrant violations of the UN Charter and international law.   The Iranian foreign minister described the current situation in the Strait of Hormuz as the direct result of US lawlessness and arbitrariness in militarily attacking a sovereign UN member state. He stated that Iran, as a coastal state of the Strait, has taken measures in accordance with international law to protect its national security against US and Israeli aggression and threats, adding that the aggressors bear responsibility for the consequences of this situation on the global economy.   Araghchi also condemned the aggressive US and Israeli attacks on Iran's peaceful nuclear facilities, deeming the European countries' silence on this criminal lawlessness unacceptable. He warned of the progressive weakening of international law and the non-proliferation regime due to European states' double standards on the issue.   The two top diplomats also discussed developments in Lebanon and the need to respect the ceasefire.   The Italian foreign minister, emphasizing the importance of establishing peace and stability in the Persian Gulf region, expressed his country's readiness to help strengthen stability across the region.
