Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Ignazio Cassis, Foreign Minister of Switzerland, held a telephone conversation to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments.
During the call, the Iranian Foreign Minister briefed his Swiss counterpart on regional developments following the 40-day military aggression by the U.S.-Zionist regime against Iran, as well as the repeated ceasefire violations committed by the aggressors from April 8 to the present.
Referring to the security and economic consequences of the U.S.-Zionist regime's imposed war on the region and the world, the Iranian Foreign Minister stated that the current insecurity in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz is a direct result of the U.S.-Zionist regime's military aggression against Iran. He emphasized that the international community must take this fact into account and hold the aggressors accountable for their flagrant violation of the principles of the UN Charter and international law.
The Swiss Foreign Minister reiterated his country's principled position in support of diplomacy to end the war and establish peace.
The two foreign ministers also discussed bilateral issues and stressed the continuation of consultations on areas of mutual interest.
