Top Iranian diplomat meets Russian Foreign Minister
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia met today Thursday on the sidelines of the BRICS foreign ministers meeting in New Delhi
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia met today, Thursday, on the sidelines of the BRICS foreign ministers' meeting in New Delhi, and discussed the latest status of bilateral relations, regional developments, and multilateral cooperation. In this meeting, the two sides discussed and examined Tehran-Moscow cooperation in political, energy, transport, and regional cooperation fields. Referring to the importance of strategic relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Russia, the Iranian Foreign Minister informed his Russian counterpart about the latest developments following the ceasefire in the war imposed by the US and the Zionist regime against Iran, and emphasized the development of cooperation within the framework of regional and international organizations, including BRICS. The two sides emphasized the potential and constructive role of BRICS in reducing disputes among regional countries and collective security mechanisms in the Persian Gulf region. The parties also exchanged views on the latest developments in the West Asia region, as well as negotiations related to Iran's nuclear issue. The Russian Foreign Minister, while emphasizing the importance of developing bilateral cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran, supported the expansion of economic relations and cooperation in the energy sector, transit corridors, and important waterways. Referring to the previous agreements between the two countries during Araghchi's visit to St. Petersburg, the two sides also emphasized the continuation of consultations and close contacts among officials of the two countries at various levels.
