The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran considers the positions contained in the joint statement issued by the U.S. Secretary of State and the Foreign Ministers of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC), dated June 25, 2026, to be interventionist, irresponsible, and provocative, and warns against the continuation of hostile and interventionist conduct in the region. The claim regarding the "enduring U.S. commitment to the security of the PGCC member states" is nothing more than rhetoric and a distortion of reality. It is now clearer than ever that the U.S. military presence in the countries of the region is merely a burden on the peoples of the region and a source of insecurity and division. The United States' use of military bases and facilities located in regional countries to carry out its act of aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran during the period from February 28 to April 8, 2027, clearly demonstrated that the United States places no value on the security of the regional countries or on the relations among them. The countries of the region whose territory and facilities were used by the U.S.-Zionist aggressors during the recent imposed war to attack Iran are expected to reconsider their positions. The Islamic Republic of Iran once again emphasizes the explicit obligation of the PGCC member states, under international law and the principle of good neighborliness, to prevent any use by third parties of their territory and facilities for planning, organizing, supporting, or carrying out unlawful acts, including military aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran expresses its abhorrence at the repetition of the major fabrication concocted by the genocidal Zionist regime and the United States regarding Iran's peaceful nuclear program. It advises the PGCC member governments, instead of aligning themselves with the United States in portraying Iran's peaceful nuclear program as a threat, to join the Islamic Republic of Iran in advancing the initiative for a nuclear-weapon-free West Asia and to compel the United States to cease obstructing the implementation of this initiative. Lasting peace and security in the region can only be achieved through confidence-building and mutual cooperation among the countries of the region, free from destructive U.S. interference. The inclusion of the clichéd phrase "threats posed by Iran"—a concept invented years ago by the Zionist regime and the United States as part of their Iranophobia campaign—reflects the U.S. administration's attempt to impose its delusions and ambitions on the countries of the region. In this regard, portraying Iran's defensive capabilities as a threat is strongly condemned. At a time when the United States, in pursuit of its "divide and rule" policy, has trapped the PGCC member states in a dangerous and endless arms race and transformed West Asia into a vast arms depot, raising Iran's missile and drone programs is irresponsible and is entirely condemned. It is self-evident that the Islamic Republic of Iran will not show the slightest leniency in defending Iran's territorial integrity and the capabilities associated with it. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran also expresses regret over the PGCC's alignment with the United States and the Zionist regime in describing the Palestinian and Lebanese resistance as "Iranian proxies." It reiterates that the only proxy entity in the region is the Zionist regime. The struggle of the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples against occupation and apartheid is legitimate and fully lawful under international law, and all states are obligated to support them in realizing their right to self-determination and liberation from occupation and colonial apartheid. Recalling the direct responsibility of the United States, the Zionist regime, and those regional countries that participated in the U.S.-Zionist military aggression against Iran for imposing insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs notes that the Strait of Hormuz lies within the territorial waters of the two littoral states, Iran and Oman. It further states that the provisions agreed upon in Paragraph 5 of the Memorandum of Understanding on the Termination of the Imposed War shall serve as the basis for managing navigation through the Strait. Recalling the experience of the recent imposed war launched by the United States and the Zionist regime against the region, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran calls on the PGCC member states to reconsider their approaches to regional security and once again emphasizes that collective security can only be realized through cooperation among all regional countries and without foreign interference.
