President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq meets with Irans Foreign Minister
Nechirvan Barzani President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq who has traveled to Tehran at the head of a high-ranking delegation to attend the ceremony honoring the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution met on Friday morning with Seyed Abbas Araghchi the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Nechirvan Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, who has traveled to Tehran at the head of a high-ranking delegation to attend the ceremony honoring the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, met on Friday morning with Seyed Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran.President Barzani conveyed the heartfelt condolences of the officials and people of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq to the Supreme Leader, the government, and the people of Iran over the martyrdom of Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, as well as members of his family and a number of senior Iranian officials and citizens during the military aggression by the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran. He wished the Supreme Leader, government, and people of Iran continued success, victory, and prosperity. Referring to the historic, brotherly, and friendly ties between the peoples of Iran, Iraq, and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Barzani recalled his warm and memorable last meeting with the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution. He praised Ayatollah Khamenei's distinguished character, his affection for the people of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, and his commitment to regional peace and security. He also described the resilience, steadfastness, and unity demonstrated by the brave people of Iran in defending their country as exemplary and worthy of admiration. Foreign Minister Araghchi expressed appreciation for the participation of the high-ranking delegations from Iraq and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq in the ceremony honoring the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution. He also thanked the officials, people, religious scholars, and intellectuals of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region for their sincere messages of sympathy and solidarity. Araghchi further described the prospects for relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Iraq—particularly with the Kurdistan Region of Iraq—as highly promising, expressing hope that, through the efforts and continued engagement of officials on both sides, bilateral relations would be further strengthened across all fields in line with their shared and mutual interests. The two sides also discussed enhancing cooperation between Iran and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, including within the framework of the Iran-Iraq Security Cooperation Agreement, with the aim of safeguarding border security and preventing any misuse by third parties to destabilize the region.Barzani also outlined the measures taken by the Kurdistan Region during the period of military aggression against Iran and reaffirmed the Region's commitment and continued efforts to safeguard their shared security.
