Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and the European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, held a telephone conversation on Saturday night to discuss regional and international developments. During the call, Araghchi outlined the latest regional developments following the United States' breach of commitments and violation of the provisions of the Islamabad Memorandum. He criticized the irresponsible approach of European countries toward regional developments and the European Union's interventionist positions regarding Iran, stressing: "Because of its double standards, comprehensive support for occupation and genocide, and its inappropriate positions regarding the US-Zionist military aggression against Iran, the European Union lacks any moral standing to lecture others on human rights." Referring to the highly dangerous action by the Ukrainian regime in attacking an Iranian commercial vessel in the Caspian Sea, the Iranian foreign minister recalled the European Union's responsibility as a supporter of the Ukrainian regime and warned of the unpredictable consequences such adventurism could have for regional and international peace and security. For her part, Kaja Kallas expressed concern over any further expansion of areas of conflict and emphasized the importance of continuing consultations between the European Union and Iran with the aim of preventing further escalation of tensions.
