The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns the rhetoric of the criminal prime minister of the Zionist regime claiming the permanent belonging of Syria’s Golan Heights to that regime and denying an independent Palestinian state. In principle, the leader of the criminal and mafia-like gang ruling over the occupied territory of Palestine has no standing to comment on the formation of an independent Palestinian state, because the land of Palestine belongs to the Palestinian people, and the racist delusions of the genocidal Zionist regime cannot alter this reality. Furthermore, the Golan Heights constitute an inseparable part of the territory of Syria, and the colonial ambitions of an usurping and occupying entity cannot change its legal and historical realities. In this context, the recent action by the government of Colombia in recognizing the sovereignty of the Zionist regime over the occupied Golan region is completely rejected and condemned, and constitutes a clear violation of the fundamental principles of the Charter of the United Nations and international law regarding respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states. Such an action also conflicts with the established principle of international law prohibiting the recognition of the effects of illegal acts and entails the international responsibility of the government of Colombia. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, while emphasizing the legal, moral, and human obligation of all states—especially Islamic countries—to assist the Palestinian nation in realizing its right to self-determination and liberation from the occupation, apartheid, and colonialism of the Zionist regime, reminds the Security Council of the United Nations of its responsibility to halt the occupation and the continuous aggressions of the Zionist regime against occupied Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and other countries of the region. The question of Palestine remains the most important human and moral issue of the contemporary world, which began in 1948 with the establishment of a fabricated entity on the historical land of Palestine and, through its cancerous expansion, has rendered the entire region and the world insecure. Undoubtedly, the comprehensive support of the United States and certain Western countries, including Britain, France, Germany, and Canada, for the genocidal Zionist regime has been the main factor behind its impunity and has caused the continuation and intensification of its expansionism and crimes in the region. The Islamic Republic of Iran, while reaffirming its principled position in support of the legitimate struggle of the Palestinian people for the liberation of their land from occupation, the return of Palestinian refugees to their homeland, the realization of the right to self-determination, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with al-Quds al-Sharif as its capital, strongly condemns any action aimed at simplifying or marginalizing the question of Palestine.
