Sheikh Ali Al-Khatib, Deputy Head of the Supreme Islamic Shiite Council of Lebanon, who has traveled to Tehran at the head of a delegation to attend the 40th International Islamic Unity Conference, met with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on Friday afternoon. During the meeting, Al-Khatib outlined the latest developments in Lebanon and the continuation of the Israeli regime’s aggression against the country. He praised the Islamic Republic of Iran’s principled positions in support of the resilient Lebanese people, as well as Lebanon’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty in the face of Israeli aggressors and occupiers. He described Iran’s positions as a source of reassurance and hope for the resilient people of Lebanon. Araghchi, for his part, expressed appreciation for Sheikh Ali Al-Khatib and his delegation’s participation in the 40th International Islamic Unity Conference. He stressed the Islamic Republic of Iran’s continued and firm support for the resilient Lebanese people, Lebanon’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty, as well as Iran’s particular emphasis on ending the war against Lebanon and the need for the Israeli occupiers to withdraw from the occupied areas of Lebanon. Araghchi also underscored the importance of strengthening unity and cohesion among Islamic countries in confronting the Israeli regime’s genocide, warmongering and expansionism. He stressed the need to bolster solidarity among Islamic and regional countries to counter threats and destructive interventions in the affairs of countries in the region.
