Iranian Chinese Foreign Ministers meet in Beijing
Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi who is visiting Beijing at the head of a diplomatic delegation met with Wang Yi a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs and Chinese Foreign Minister on Wednesday morning.
Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, who is visiting Beijing at the head of a diplomatic delegation, met with Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China, Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, and Chinese Foreign Minister, on Wednesday morning.Referring to the longstanding ties between Iran and China, the Iranian foreign minister described China as a close friend and strategic partner of Iran and stressed the Islamic Republic of Iran government's serious and firm determination to comprehensively enhance Tehran-Beijing strategic and friendly relations within the framework of the Iran-China comprehensive strategic partnership, based on mutual respect and trust.Emphasizing the importance of Tehran-Beijing relations, Araghchi stated that the two countries' relations are guided at a strategic level by the will of their leaders and the existing political trust, adding that Tehran attaches particular importance to advancing and strengthening relations in various fields.Araghchi attributed the current situation in the region to the US and Israeli regime's military aggression against Iran. Referring to the Iranian people's struggle, resistance and steadfastness, which had caused the aggressors to fail and be defeated in achieving their illegitimate objectives, he praised China's principled position in condemning the violation by the United States and Israel of the fundamental principles of the UN Charter, as well as China's responsible approach toward the US misuse of the UN Security Council.The Iranian foreign minister stressed that while the Islamic Republic of Iran remains fully prepared to firmly defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity and safeguard Iran's security and national interests against aggressors, it welcomes diplomatic solutions that ensure the rights of the Iranian people.Araghchi stated that the situation in the region has undergone fundamental changes following the war of aggression against Iran, adding that in the new regional order, which will be accompanied by dialogue and cooperation among regional countries, there is no place for the presence and interference of foreign forces.The Iranian foreign minister also referred to repeated breaches of commitments by the US side, including its violation of the provisions of the Islamabad Understanding less than three weeks after its signing and the suspension of its implementation. He added: “While emphasizing our principles and standing firm to secure the legitimate rights of the Iranian people, we seek the restoration of calm in the region and friendly and peaceful relations with our neighbors, and in this regard, we have begun dialogue with the countries of the region.”The Chinese foreign minister, for his part, described Tehran-Beijing relations based on the comprehensive strategic partnership as important and expressed Beijing's desire to develop and consolidate bilateral ties.Wang Yi described the US war against Iran as illegal and, emphasizing China's leadership's positions, stressed the need to establish peace and calm in the Middle East and West Asia and resolve issues through dialogue and diplomacy.He also stressed China's readiness to play a role in reducing tensions, support dialogue, and help establish peace and stability in the region.
