Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, continuing his consultations with countries participating in the annual session of the United Nations General Assembly, met with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov on Tuesday afternoon. During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on Iran-Azerbaijan bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments. The foreign ministers of Iran and Azerbaijan reviewed the agreements and understandings reached between the two countries in various economic and trade fields, as well as issues related to security and cooperation in the South Caucasus region. They stressed the two countries’ determination to implement the agreements and strengthen cooperation and coordination in line with the interests of the two nations. The Iranian foreign minister, while explaining the latest developments in the Persian Gulf region and the Strait of Hormuz, stressed Iran’s determination to defend its sovereignty and national interests against the aggression and illegal pressures of the United States and the Israeli regime.
