Following baseless allegations made by the British prime minister against the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hugo Shorter, the British ambassador to Tehran, was summoned by Majid Takht-Ravanchi, Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, and Iran’s strong protest over the continuation of the British government’s destructive approach toward Iran was conveyed to him.During the summons, the Iranian deputy foreign minister, recalling the British government’s international responsibility for its numerous wrongful acts against the Iranian people, particularly its provision of military bases and facilities under British jurisdiction for the preparation and execution of the US-Zionist military aggression against Iran, stressed: “The recent propaganda campaign by the British government, which has leveled a baseless accusation under the pretext of an alleged attempt to carry out sabotage at the Fairford base, can in no way overshadow Britain’s complicity in the military aggression against the Iranian people, and the British government must be held accountable for its participation in the crime of aggression and war crimes committed by the United States and the Zionist regime.”Takht-Ravanchi rejected the baseless and frivolous claim by British officials linking the alleged sabotage plot at the Fairford military base to Iran, stressing the need for an official explanation by the British government in this regard and for it to rectify its inappropriate approach toward Iran. The British ambassador stressed that he would convey the Islamic Republic of Iran’s protest to London.
