Esmail Baqaei Spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the brazen and interventionist claims made by the United Arab Emirates and Canada regarding Iran’s three islands as stated in a joint statement by the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and the Canadian Prime Minister.
Esmail Baqaei, Spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, strongly condemned the brazen and interventionist claims made by the United Arab Emirates and Canada regarding Iran’s three islands, as stated in a joint statement by the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and the Canadian Prime Minister. He stressed that Abu Musa, Greater Tunb and Lesser Tunb are an inseparable and eternal part of Iran’s territory, adding that the repetition of baseless and unfounded claims about these islands would not change the established geographical, historical and legal realities.Condemning Canada’s deplorable move to align itself with the UAE government in making territorial claims against Iran, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson noted that such an action by Canada—which itself faces territorial claims by the US ruling establishment—is short-sighted, violates the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter, and runs counter to international law, entailing the international responsibility of the Canadian government.Baqaei advised the UAE government to abide by the principle of good neighborliness instead of repeatedly making futile territorial claims against a major neighboring country.
