Oil, banking cooperation Iran’s key economic rights under JCPOA/ Tehran, Paris agree to keep on negotiations, diplomatic contact
Presidents of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of France stressed the continuation of bilateral negotiations and seeking ways to de-escalate regional tensions and working towards securing Iranian nation’s rights under the JCPOA.
In a phone call with President Emmanuel Macron of France on Tuesday evening, President Hassan Rouhani said, “Unfortunately, despite Iran and France’s efforts to ease tensions in the region, we are witnessing provocative actions by the Americans”.
He stressed, “We pay special attention to security and freedom of navigation in the region and Strait of Hormuz. Tens of ships navigate freely in the region, and Iranian forces monitor the process based on regulations”.
Describing the negotiations in the recent months positive and a step forwards, he said, “By reducing its commitments, Iran has been seeking to secure its interests under the JCPOA and get other signatories to live up to their commitments for further stability and solidity of the important deal”.
He also stressed the acceleration of banking and oil cooperation and relations between Iran and other countries as Iran’s main economic right under the deal.
“Development of relations and cooperation between Iran and Europe can create a peaceful, secure atmosphere for the region and the world, and as one of Iran’s old partners in the European Union, France can play a constructive role in this regard,” continued Rouhani.
During the same phone call, President Emmanuel Macron reiterated Paris’ commitment to the provisions of the JCPOA, saying, “Reaching an acceptable result accepted by both sides, which secure Iran’s interests in the JCPOA, is very important for Paris”.
He also welcomed Dr Rouhani’s suggestion for negotiations between Iranian and French experts and officials for reaching good solutions in different regional and international issues, stressing the development of Tehran-Paris relations.
