President while receiving new Italian Ambassador’s credentials: Iran determined to deepen ties with Italy
President described relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Italy friendly and historical, saying, “The Islamic Republic of Iran is determined to develop ties with Italy”.
Speaking on Sunday in a meeting with the new Ambassador of Italy to Tehran while receiving his letter of credence, President Hassan Rouhani said, “We are determined to develop the friendly, long-standing relations with Italy, and we consider this beneficial to both nations”.
“We are also determined to prevent the unilateral, illegal sanctions of the United States from affecting these relations,” he added.
Dr Rouhani also referred to economic relations and continued, “The current conditions are temporary, and the efforts of the two governments and how they treat these conditions will remain in both nation’s memory”.
He added, “In the current conditions, we need to take advantage of initiatives to promote the cooperation and increase investment for stronger relations, which will be beneficial to both nations and the region”.
The President went on to refer to Italy’s constructive role in nuclear negotiations, adding, “After the nuclear deal, very constructive and positive economic relations were established between the two countries, which needs to be continued relying on the political will of both governments”.
During the same meeting, the new Ambassador of Italy to Tehran Giuseppe Perrone presented his letter of credence and said, “Rome is willing to deepen ties with Tehran in all fields of mutual interest”.
He added, “We believe that the current conditions are transitory and the relations between the two countries must keep growing and developing”.
