Iranian FM meets with secretary general of Palestinian Islamic Jihad

Amirabdollahian said he was pleased to meet with the Islamic Jihad’s high-ranking delegation. He underlined Iran’s determination to stick to its principled and unchangeable policy to support the Palestine liberation cause and the resistance of the oppressed Palestinian people against the aggression and expansionist policies of the apartheid Zionist regime.

The Iranian foreign minister also pointed to the defeats suffered by the Zionist regime and the US vis-à-vis the resistance and the formation of a new era for Palestinians. Amirabdollahian voiced hope that with increased convergence among Muslim countries the enemies will fail to undermine the sacred cause of the liberation of Palestine and al-Quds.

Amirabdollahian expressed confidence that the Islamic resistance in Palestine and the wider region will continue its iron-clad defense of the inalienable rights of regional nations including Palestinians by strengthening their coherence, solidarity and internal unity.

Islamic Jihad’s Secretary General Ziad Nakhaleh for his part said he was pleased to visit Tehran and meet with Amirabdollahian. He commemorated the memory of Imam Khomeini and the martyred leaders of resistance including General Soleimani and thanked the Islamic Republic of Iran and the leader of the Islamic Revolution for their continued support for the resistance of Palestinian people.

Ziad Nakhaleh also praised the powerful, effective and constructive role of Iran in regional issues, saying Tehran’s active diplomacy to interact with different countries, the region and the Muslim world is an indication of the dynamic nature and clout of the Islamic Republic. Ziad Nakhaleh further noted that Iran’s achievements and successes belong to the entire Muslim ummah.

The Islamic Jihad’s secretary general expressed regret over efforts by some countries to pressure Iran and to play down the real threat of the Zionist regime against the interests of the Muslim ummah and the Palestinian cause. He said Iran’s efforts to confront the global arrogance and its support for the oppressed nations against occupiers and foreign powers herald good, blessing and power for the resistant Palestinian people and the weakening of the front of the Islamic world’s enemies. Ziad Nakhaleh also underlined the need to maintain and strengthen solidarity and coherence among Muslim nations.

He referred to the Zionist regime’s long history of violating all obligations it undertook during the so-called peace process. Ziad Nakhaleh then said the Palestinian people have no choice but resistance in order to achieve their rights and push the occupiers out of the Palestinian land, underlining the need to continue down this path.

The Islamic Jihad’s secretary general also presented a report on the latest developments in Palestine and said it is necessary for Palestinian groups to preserve their unity and solidarity in order to bolster the Islamic resistance of the Palestinian people. He stressed the important role and standing of Iran, Syria and the Lebanese resistance in supporting the Islamic resistance front and appreciated the Iranian people, leadership and government for their assistance.
