Iran, Nicaragua FMs hold talks in Tehran

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and his Nicaraguan counterpart Denis Moncada held talks at the Iranian Foreign Ministry in Tehran. Moncada has travelled to Iran for talks and exchange of views over how to expand ties and explore ways of further deepening cooperation between the two sides as well as participating in the third session of the Tehran dialog forum.


Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and his Nicaraguan counterpart Denis Moncada held talks at the Iranian Foreign Ministry in Tehran. Moncada has travelled to Iran for talks and exchange of views over how to expand ties and explore ways of further deepening cooperation between the two sides as well as participating in the third session of the Tehran dialog forum.

During the meeting, Amirabdollahian expressed pleasure at the level of ties with Nicaragua, describing bilateral political relations as excellent. He stressed that trade and economic cooperation is a high priority for both countries that must receive more attention.

Amirabdollahian underlined the Islamic republic of Iran’s readiness to boost economic and trade ties with Nicaragua to their highest level.

The top Iranian diplomat welcomed the signing of a comprehensive plan of cooperation between Iran and Nicaragua and called it a new and strategic roadmap for expansion of relations.

Nicaraguan Foreign Minister Denis Moncada also thanked Amirabdollahian for inviting him to Tehran and extended Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega and Vice President Rosario Murillo’s warm greetings to the government and people of Iran.

Moncada pointed to friendly and brotherly relations between the two countries and voiced pleasure at the cooperation and solidarity between Iran and Nicaragua at international organizations.

The top Nicaraguan diplomat then referred to agreements signed by the two countries over the past year and expressed hope that bilateral ties will be expanded more than ever before in the near future with the signing of the comprehensive partnership agreement between Iran and Nicaragua and the holding of the first meeting of the two countries’ joint commission.
At the end of the meeting, the comprehensive partnership agreement between Iran and Nicaragua was signed by the two foreign ministers.
