Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian meets with Pakistani Army Commander General Syed Asim Munir
Asim Munir arrived in Tehran on Saturday for talks with high-ranking Iranian political and military officials.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and Pakistani Army Commander General Syed Asim Munir on Sunday held a meeting and exchanged views over ties between the two countries as well as key regional and international issues.
Asim Munir arrived in Tehran on Saturday for talks with high-ranking Iranian political and military officials.
Amirabdollahian appreciated the positive and constructive role of the Pakistani Army commander in border security cooperation and fighting against terrorism. The foreign minister underlined the need to transform the Iran-Pakistan border into an economically prosperous one, calling for the expansion of border markets that would bring people in those areas welfare and also help develop provinces there.
Referring to the new situation in the region, Amirabdollahian voiced hope that Iran and Pakistan take further steps toward strengthening and expanding their relations with a strategic view to the issues of the Muslim world and related matters as well as their cultural and popular commonalities.
The Pakistani Army commander for his part spoke about the religious, cultural and historical bonds between the two nations, saying Pakistan is pleased to have a neighbor like Iran and welcomes the expansion of relations with Tehran in all areas.
General Syed Asim Munir underlined the significance of the agreements between Iran and Pakistan during his visit to Tehran and expressed hope that with the implementation of the deals, the people of the two countries will see the results of the cooperation as soon as possible.
Amirabdollahian and General Munir exchanged views over expanding economic relations, confronting terrorist groups, increasing border cooperation, the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline and electricity exports to Pakistan
