Iran Pakistan top diplomats talk on phone sweep aside recent events stress on fraternal and neighborly ties

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian in a phone call with his Pakistani counterpart Jalil Abbas Jilani on Friday stressed Pakistan’s high status in Iran’s foreign policy as its neighbor.

The phone call was initiated by the top Pakistani diplomat.

 

Amirabdollahian said the points in the security and military cooperation agreed upon and highlighted by both countries’ officials should be seriously pursued.

 

He also stated “The Iranian security forces in their bases confront any terrorist operation from the onset and do not give terrorists any operational leeway.”

 

The Iranian diplomacy chief  also discussed the recent anti-terrorist operation by a local headquarters in Iran against Jaish al-Zolm, which has claimed responsibility for many terrorist operations in Iran, including a recent one on a police station in the southeastern Iranian city of Rask.

 

He said, “The operational move was in line with the immediate tasks of the operational headquarters in the Sistan and Baluchestan region in order to neutralize the immediate terrorist threat.”

 

“Based on evidence and documents, over fifty terrorists were getting ready to carry out a terrorist act against Iran in this area, which was foiled by the Iranian forces due to their timely action,” he further said.

 

Amirabdollahian underlined that Iran respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of its friendly and brotherly neighbor of Pakistan and reiterated, “The sovereignty and territorial integrity of Pakistan is of utmost importance to us and the cooperation between the two countries to neutralize and demolish the terrorist camps in Pakistan is essential.”

 

Amirabdollahian added, “In a situation where the Zionist regime kills women and children in Palestine, the need for the unity in the Islamic world as well as major and influential countries is felt more than ever.”

 

Meanwhile, the Pakistani foreign minister shed light on the two countries’ common goals in the fight against terrorism and stated, “A shared view in the fight against terrorism constitutes the core of cooperation between the two countries."

 

“Pakistan has always stressed on the brotherly and constructive relations with Iran and the rights of sovereignty and territorial integrity have always been seriously in Islamabad’s focal point,” Jilani added.

 

He reiterated the Pakistani nation and government’s special interest in and respect for Iran and called for the promotion of the brotherly ties between the two countries in all areas.

 

Jilani said, “We are age-old and Muslim neighbors. Terrorism is our common enemy and we should not give terrorists and enemies of the relations between Tehran and Islamabad any chance for abuse. Cooperation and brotherhood are the focus of everything we do.”

 

The Pakistani foreign minister extended an official invitation to Amirabdollahian to visit Islamabad.
