Iranian FM meets Sri Lankan PM in Colombo talks diplomacy

Pursuant to his meetings in Colombo Irans Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amirabdollahian met and held talks with Sri Lankan Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena.

During the meeting, Amirabdollahian emphasized: "The will of the Islamic Republic of Iran is to develop all-round relations with Sri Lanka; and, we do not have any restrictions in this regard."

 

The top Iranian diplomat considered the priority of looking at Asia and cooperation with Asian countries as one of the principles of the foreign policy of the 13th Administration and evaluated the relations with Sri Lanka in this context.

 

Amirabdollahian also announced the invitation of the Vice President of Iran to the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka for a visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran.

 

The Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, for his part, expressed satisfaction with Amirabdollahian's visit to Sri Lanka and described as significant the progress of the Islamic Republic of Iran in various industrial, scientific, and technological fields.

He emphasized Colombo's interest in making more use of the technical-engineering services offered by the Islamic Republic of Iran.

 

He considered it important to use the experiences of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding renewable energies.

 

In this meeting, Mojtaba Akbari, head of the Center for International Affairs of the Ministry of Energy, presented a report on the progress and achievements of Iran regarding electricity, water, and new as well as renewable energies.
