Armenia’s security chief meets with Iranian FM in Tehran

Secretary of Armenia’s National Security Council Armen Grigoryan who has traveled to Tehran for consultations with senior officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran on Saturday met with Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi to exchange views on bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments.

 


Secretary of Armenia’s National Security Council Armen Grigoryan who has traveled to Tehran for consultations with senior officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran, on Saturday met with Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi to exchange views on bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments.

Araghchi described bilateral relations between Iran and Armenia as longstanding and based on goodwill, mutual respect, and the natural and logical interests of both nations. He stressed that Iran believes there are no limitations to the expansion of relations with Armenia in various spheres.

Araghchi thanked the Armenian government and people for their warm hospitality toward Iran’s president, calling the visit and talks between the leaders of the two countries "very successful and satisfactory". He voiced hope that with the follow-up and implementation of the agreements reached during this visit, further development of bilateral relations in all areas will be achieved.

The Iranian foreign minister also appreciated Armenia’s special attention to the existing and shared concerns regarding the preservation of stability and lasting security in the South Caucasus region. He described the continuation of reciprocal visits by officials of both countries to Tehran and Yerevan, as well as ongoing consultations, as a means of bringing views closer and strengthening mutual understanding of regional developments.

Grigoryan for his part presented a report on his very constructive talks with Iranian officials, describing his continuous consultations with the Islamic Republic of Iran at the highest levels, particularly the successful visit of President Pezeshkian to Yerevan and his meetings with Armenian officials, as "very positive and fruitful".

He underscored the serious determination of the Armenian government to further and comprehensively expand relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran, especially in economic and trade fields. Grigoryan underlined his country’s special commitment to continuing consultations with Iran to address concerns and resolve challenges.
