The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyed Abbas Araghchi who has traveled to Doha Qatar to participate in the 17th “Al-Jazeera Forum” on “The Palestinian Issue and Regional Balance within the Framework of a Multipolar World” stated that the Palestinian issue is “the measure of justice and the true test of the effectiveness of international law.”
The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, who has traveled to Doha, Qatar, to participate in the 17th “Al-Jazeera Forum” on “The Palestinian Issue and Regional Balance within the Framework of a Multipolar World”, stated that the Palestinian issue is “the measure of justice and the true test of the effectiveness of international law.”
He emphasized, “Palestine is not merely a humanitarian or regional matter, but rather the cornerstone of sustainable security in West Asia and a key benchmark for the international community’s adherence to the principles of international law.”
Referring to the ongoing developments in the occupied territories, Araghchi described the situation in Gaza as more than a military conflict, noting, “The mass killing of civilians and the destruction of vital infrastructure constitute, from the perspective of international law, international crimes and blatant violations of fundamental human principles. This is as an explicit act of genocide.”
Warning about the global and regional consequences of the continued impunity of the Israeli regime, the foreign minister stressed, “Weakening the international legal order and replacing law with the logic of force poses a serious threat to global peace and stability, extending far beyond the Palestinian issue.”
Highlighting the regional dimensions of recent developments, he described Israeli regime’s actions as a source of widespread instability in West Asia, adding, “Violations of state sovereignty, assassinations of officials, and the expansion of military actions under the cover of international impunity have seriously endangered collective regional security.”
Araghchi criticized discriminatory approaches in security and arms, stating that efforts to impose military dominance by a rogue regime at the cost of continuously weakening other regional countries neither fit within arms control frameworks nor contribute to security, but instead institutionalize inequality and instability.
The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran emphasized the necessity of practical action by the international community, calling for firm support of legal mechanisms, the imposition of targeted sanctions including an arms embargo on the Israeli regime, and the establishment of a credible political horizon based on international law to realize the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.
Within this framework, he identified the end of occupation, the realization of the right of return for Palestinian refugees, and the establishment of an independent and united Palestinian state with Al-Quds as its capital as essential pillars of any just and sustainable solution to the Palestinian issue.
In conclusion, Araghchi stressed the need for coordination among Islamic, Arab, and Global South countries to effectively support the rights of the Palestinian people, stating, “Lasting stability can only be achieved through justice, holding perpetrators accountable, ending impunity, and confronting the expansionist policies of the Zionist regime.”
