Remarks by Iranian Foreign Minister After Conclusion of the Geneva Talks

.

🔹 Today (Tuesday), we held the second round of indirect negotiations with the US delegation at the Omani Embassy in Geneva. Consultations had begun yesterday, and Grossi arrived in Geneva, where we held constructive technical discussions with him. He also met with the US delegation.

🔹 Compared to the previous round, this session involved fully serious discussions and was conducted in a more constructive atmosphere.

🔹 Various ideas were put forward and thoroughly examined. Ultimately, we were able to reach a general understanding on a set of guiding principles that will serve as the basis for moving forward and entering into the drafting of a potential agreement.

🔹 This does not mean that we can reach an agreement quickly, but at least the process has begun. We hope to conclude it as soon as possible and are prepared to devote sufficient time to it. However, when it comes to drafting the text, the work becomes more detailed and complex.

🔹 Good progress was made compared to the previous meeting, and we now have a clearer and, in my view, positive path ahead.

🔹 No specific timeline was set. It was agreed that both sides would work on draft texts of a potential agreement, exchange them, and then determine a date for the third round.

🔹 This does not amount to a roadmap per se, but we now have a clearer picture of the steps required going forward.

🔹 Of course, both sides still hold positions that will require effort to bridge, but at least we now have guiding principles and a clearer path for continuing the process.
