Statement: Iran voices deep concern over escalating tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran has expressed its profound concern and regret over the escalation of clashes between the two neighboring and Muslim countries, Pakistan and Afghanistan, and the resulting security and humanitarian consequences. It has called for the immediate commencement of dialogue and engagement between the two countries to halt the fighting and de-escalate tensions.

The confrontation between Pakistan and Afghanistan has not only led to human casualties and material damage for the two neighboring states, but will also exacerbate insecurity in the surrounding region and entail broader humanitarian and security repercussions for the entire region.

While renewing its call on both sides to respect each other’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty and to refrain from any action that could further intensify tensions and conflict, the Islamic Republic of Iran declares its readiness to provide any assistance aimed at reducing tensions and facilitating dialogue between the two countries to bring a complete end to the military confrontation and achieve mutual understanding.
