Message of condolence by Iran FM on martyrdom of distinguished commanders

These great men with records replete with sincerity prudence and devotion stood on the frontlines in defense of the country’s independence and security.

Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, issued a message offering condolences on the martyrdom of a number of distinguished commanders and devoted defenders of Iran’s dignity and security. The full text of the message is as follows:

بسم‌الله الرحمن الرحیم

 وَلَا تَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذِینَ قُتِلُوا فِی سَبِیلِ اللَّهِ أَمْوَاتًا ۚ بَلْ أَحْیَاءٌ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ یُرْزَقُونَ

In the Name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful

"And do not think of those who are slain in the way of God as dead. Rather, they are alive with their Lord, receiving provision."

The martyrdom of a number of distinguished commanders and steadfast defenders of the path of dignity and security — Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces; Major General Mohammad Pakpour, Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps; Admiral Ali Shamkhani, Advisor to the Commander-in-Chief and Secretary of the Supreme Defense Council; and Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh, Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics — represents yet another manifestation of the enduring and resolute path of struggle and self-sacrifice in safeguarding the Islamic homeland and upholding divine ideals.

These great men, with records replete with sincerity, prudence, and devotion, stood on the frontlines in defense of the country’s independence and security. In the end, they received the reward of their pure struggle by attaining the exalted rank of martyrdom — a station which divine promise has declared to be eternal life.

With the utmost sorrow and grief, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the esteemed families of these noble martyrs, their valued comrades-in-arms, and the honorable people of Iran. I pray to Almighty God to grant them the highest ranks and to bestow patience and reward upon the bereaved.
