Iran strongly condemns desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque
.
Esmail Baghaei, Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, strongly condemned the desecration of the Al-Aqsa Mosque by a group of extremist Zionists led by a criminal minister of the Zionist regime, as well as the occupiers' action in preventing Palestinian worshippers from entering the mosque.
The Foreign Ministry Spokesman, referring to the continued crimes of the Zionist regime in occupied Palestine and its illegal attacks against Lebanon and other countries in the region, emphasized the legal and moral responsibility of all nations to confront this trend and to prosecute and punish the criminals.
The Spokesman, noting the lofty status of Al-Aqsa Mosque as the first qibla of Muslims among the Islamic Ummah and the Palestinian people, described the Zionist regime's act of desecrating Al-Aqsa Mosque as being in line with that regime's policy of altering the Islamic and historical identity of Al-Quds Al-Sharif and provoking the sentiments of Muslims worldwide. He called for effective action by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and Muslim countries to neutralize the moves of the Israeli apartheid regime against the Islamic and historical identity of Al-Quds Al-Sharif.
